othermusic e.V. is a non-profit organization based in Weimar, Germany. The mission of othermusic e.V. is to be a think tank, an education center and a community resource, where musicians, artists, scientists and scholars from around the world join to exchange ideas, create projects, teach, and interact with students and other communities to promote an intercultural philosophy.

In recognition of the success of our projects and in support of our vision, the Lord Mayor of Weimar, Stefan Wolf, helped set in motion a process that will let us expand from festival-length projects to year-round programs in our own permanent home in Weimar. For only 1 Euro per year for the next 33 years, othermusic e.V. will lease the vacant 23-room former Harry Graf Kessler School (Ernst-Kohl-Strasse 23, Weimar) and develop it into an international center for intercultural, interdisciplinary projects and programs.

Winter Edition 2013 [in Springtime]
Music Improvisation - Foundations & Advanced April 1-7
Winter Edition is a path-breaking workshop on music improvisation. In 2013, we offer two parallel workshops from April 1-7: I. Foundations, a first introduction to improvising with melody, harmony and rhythm (directed by Isabelle Marx and Richard Doust), and II. Advanced, focused work on two special improvisation methods: "Conducted Orchestral Improvisation" (directed by Marcelo Moguilevsky) and "Spontaneous Group Composition" (directed by Alan Bern). Internationally celebrated artists/teachers, students from around the world and a challenging but open and supportive learning atmosphere make Winter Edition a very special place to grow musically, take new risks, and make new connections.
